The Carrollton Ridge Community Association is incorporated within the boundaries of two old southwest Baltimore Neighborhoods: Pratt/Monroe and Bentalou/Smallwood. Bentalou Street is named after a French calvaryman accompanying the Marquis de Lafayette to America during the revolution. Paul Benatalou settled in Baltimore as a successful shipping merchant. Smallwood Street is named after a Maryland state governor who was the southern commander of the Maryland Line during the Americ an Revolution
