description title image

Comprised of less than 120 homes, Barre Circle is a charming and historic neighborhood of brick row houses from the 1840s to the 1980s (it was homesteaded in the early 1980s). Houses are mostly two- and three-story brickfront townhouses. Many interesting renovations and gardens can be found here; many houses have big back yards and the neighborhood has two large common areas.

Great neighborhood for professionals working at University Center or downtown and for commuters using light rail, MARC trains, Baltimore-Washington Parkway or the Beltway. Convenient to other amenities of downtown Baltimore; five minutes from Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, Center Stage, Morris Mechanic, Lyric Theater, Walters Art Museum, Pratt Library, B&O Railroad Museum, Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Nearby shopping at Mt. Clare Junction, Federal Hill and Southside Shopping Center. Four nearby churches, and local branch library.

Active community organization, a diverse--culturally, professionally, age-wise, racially--neighborhood, which is welcoming to a variety of professions and lifestyles.

Annual croquet tournaments.

The Inner Harbor is just minutes away.

The neighborhood has about 120 brick townhouses built between 1840 and 1890. Many of the homes are 12 to 14 feet wide, but some are double width. Homes have large backyards with a large amount of good-sized trees. There are several common areas sprinkled with daffodils, which have been planted by the community. Barre Circle is frequently referred to as "little Georgetown."
