A row house neighborhood of 5,000-6,000 people, diverse in age and ethnic background. There are many longtime residents in the neighborhood, and many children.

One block south of historic Union Square Park, and just north of Carroll Park. Playground and wading pool at Trace Atkins Park. Carey St. boundary borders Mt. Clare Mall. Community gardens along B&O tracks, kids garden in summer, after school program during school year.

Large, three-story Georgian-type row homes on major north/south streets; built around the turn of the century. Two-story row homes can also be found on these streets and alley streets.

Wilkens Ave., a broad boulevard built in 1876 on the 100th anniversary of the Revolutionary War. Property traces back to Mt. Clare Estate of Charles Carroll of Carrollton. The B&O Railroad was a major influence here, employing many of the people in the neighborhood. 14 Holy Martyrs Roman Catholic Church was the center of social life for many, with its large basement hall.
