North Baltimore
The northernmost neighborhoods, like Roland Park, Guilford, Cedarcroft, and Mt. Washington offer an upscale secluded/wooded feel. For more of a mix of urban and suburban, move a few blocks closer to downtown to Waverly, Medfield, Wyman Park, or Hampden, with the great shopping on "The Avenue" and some inspired Christmas displays. Head a few more blocks south and you're in Charles Village, with its famous "painted ladies" homes and a bit of an academic, college-town feel.
Highlights:
Sherwood Gardens, Jones Falls, Cylburn Arboretum, Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, the Baltimore Museum of Art, Village at Cross Keys, Charles Village Festival and Druid Hill Park.
