Description

Can a neighborhood remain tucked away from the hurry up! of the outside world while being one of the most convenient locations in the city? Bayview does it! This neighborhood manages to be in the center of everything and yet feel far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Bayview is nestled between Eastern Avenue, John Hopkins Bayview Hospital and a huge park with soccer and baseball fields and a little playground. It’s easy to maneuver--the street names are alphabetical, A through K. Bayview is connected to the park-like Hopkins Bayview campus and is close to the exits for I-95 and I-895. It’s in walking distance to local business and just minutes to regional shopping malls, 35 minutes to Aberdeen Proving Ground, and only 43 miles to DC!

Though the conveniences of city life lay right outside the neighborhood walls, none of that bustle makes its way into Bayview. Bayview is quiet, kid and pet friendly. During the spring and summer months, folks sit on their front porch, chatting with one another and enjoying the breeze. Pride and community come first—flags are raised for Fourth of July and neighbors begin block parties when the temperatures climb. Wide porch-front rowhomes greet tree-lined sidewalks. Neighbors stroll to the adjacent park for long walks and baseball games. Residents tend to the flowers and shrubbery in their pretty front yards. Drew Street is famous for its awesome bloom of azaleas in the spring.

Bayview is the perfect home for those seeking the conveniences of city living with the tranquility of a slow-paced park-like setting. For more information about how to purchase a home in Bayview, visit www.southeastcdc.org.

Educational Resources

From pre-school to high school, Baltimore City’s schools serve students and families across more than 225 neighborhoods. Parents and students have numerous choices from public, private, parochial, and charter schools. Many elementary schools are zoned geographically, but are increasingly becoming schools of choice. All high schools are choice schools and all middle schools are becoming schools of choice in 2010-2011. This means students can apply to attend any school in the City regardless of their home address; some schools do have admission criteria. All charter schools and Transformation Schools have lotteries for admission.

Baltimore offers a wealth of opportunities when it comes to higher education at both the undergraduate, graduate and technical education levels. The seventeen colleges and universities within or near the City enroll more than 120,000 students. Through the Baltimore Collegetown Network, 16 area colleges cooperate and share resources, such as shuttle buses and libraries.
