Choosing a Real Estate Agent
Professional, understanding, available, objective, friendly, knowledgeable-these are some of the attributes to look for in a real estate agent.

Listing Agent vs. Buyer's Agent
Usually there are two agents involved in the home buying process - the listing agent and the buyer's agent. The listing agent represents the interests of the home owner, while the buyer's agent works on behalf of the potential buyer. An agent may not act as a dual agent in the state of Maryland, unless the agent obtains the written informed consent of both parties and assigns an intra-company agent on behalf of the buyer or seller.

Making an Offer
Once you have found your dream home, you need to submit a purchase offer to the seller's agent through your agent. This process will likely include negotiations, as the seller may not accept your initial offer or may
even counteroffer. Your real estate agent will guide you through this process in order to assure your interests are met. Once both parties have agreed and signed, the offer becomes a binding contract.
