Libraries

Enoch Pratt LibraryBaltimore’s Enoch Pratt Free Library is one of the oldest free public library systems in the United States. The library’s mission is "to provide equal access to information and services that empower, enrich, and enhance the quality of life for all” and does so at its 23 location throughout the city.

Parks & Rec

Recreation and quality of life factors are often cited as major influences when deciding on a place to live. From the Baltimore Ravens and the beloved Orioles to international sailing races, marathons, lacrosse, and the Preakness Stakes, Baltimore is home to world class sporting events. The Department of Recreation and Parks offers a wide variety of youth and adult sports leagues so you can play too!

In September 2008, SustainLane ranked Baltimore as one of the top 10 most sustainable cities in the U.S.! Baltimore is home to more than 7,000 acres of parkland in 400 different locations, and our Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park is the country’s 2nd largest urban forest. In the North-West of the city, Druid Hill Park is carved around a reservoir and includes the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, a beautifully restored, Victorian glass Conservatory, tennis courts, a pool and a lake.

The City has 45 recreation centers and five public golf courses. The Department of Recreation and Parks has an extensive listing of special facilities including nature trails, skating rinks and boxing facilities.Druid Hill Park
