There are many ways to get involved in making our city better, while having fun and meeting other like-minded Baltimoreans- sign up for a clean up day or Community on Patrol (COP) through your community association, tutor young people after school, serve as a mentor, use your professional skills to help a non-profit. BVU’s Volunteer Central is a great resource to find an organization you want to support, or to search for volunteers for your own local effort. Our city schools recently put a call out for 500 volunteers to improve our city schools and mentor our students. Baltimore City’s Department of Planning also has a detailed directory of community associations in Baltimore including city-wide nonprofits, community associations and block groups. ”Everybody can be great because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.” Links
