Faith
Many of Baltimore’s Historic Landmark buildings are places of workship. Baltimore is home of the country’s first Cathedral, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as the oldest synagogue in the state, the B’nai Israel Synagogue. In many neighborhoods, faith groups are centers of community services such as soup kitchens, after school programs, job training and many other social services. You can find faith groups listed in many of the neighborhood profiles on our website. We’ve put together a list of links below to help you start your search. Please note that this is not a comprehensive listing as there are hundreds of places of worship in Baltimore City and many churches, temples, mosques and synagogues do not have websites. You can always do a web search for the type of congregation you are seeking.
