Live Baltimore’s Home Sales Data SourcesLive Baltimore pulls home sales data from multiple databases and with the help of Baltimore CitiStat we can chart sales by neighborhood to provide you with easy to read, easy to compare, home sales statistics. Sources are noted on each data chart. Metropolitan Regional Information Systems, Inc (MRIS)MRIS is a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the Baltimore-Washington-Virginia area. A MLS is real estate database of properties for sale by real estate brokers in a geographic area. The database is populated and driven by the real estate professionals who publish information on properties for sale. First American Real Estate Solutions (FARES)FARES is a real estate database that combines property characteristics, sales/mortgage data, and census tract numbers. Unlike MRIS, the FARES database records all sales including inheritances and “For Sale by Owner” transactions. Live Baltimore collects the home sales data twice a year and with the help of Baltimore CitiStat, we can sort home sales statistics by neighborhood. Baltimore CitiStatBaltimore CitiStat takes the FARES home sales data and runs it through Baltimore City’s geographic information system (GIS) to assign each sale to its respective neighborhood. With the assistance of the GIS Analysts at CitiStat, Live Baltimore can then sort the data by neighborhood and calculate the neighborhood sales data.
